Terms of service

Last updated: October 19, 2026

These are the rules for using SocialPoof, written in plain words. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

The service

SocialPoof helps you collect testimonials from your customers and show them on your website. You can do the work in the web app, or let an AI agent do it through our MCP and API connections. We may improve, change or retire features over time.

“We” and “SocialPoof” mean the operator of socialpoof.io. “You” means the person or business that holds the account. If you sign up for a business, you confirm you can accept these terms for it. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live.

Your account

  • Give us a real email address that you can read. Sign-in is by an emailed link or by Google.
  • Keep your sign-in and your API key private. What happens with your key happens on your account.
  • One person or business per account. Please don’t create accounts to dodge limits or to restart a trial on the same website.
  • Tell us quickly if you think someone else has access to your account.

Trial, plans and billing

  • Free trial. Every new account gets 14 days, with no card needed. The trial has its own limits, shown in the app. When it ends without a paid plan, collecting pauses. Your walls stay up, and your content is kept so you can pick a plan and carry on.
  • Plans. Starter is $19 a month and Pro is $39 a month. Agency plans are set up by hand after a conversation, with pricing we agree with you. What each plan includes is shown on our pricing section and your Billing screen.
  • Billing. Paid plans are billed monthly through Stripe, and renew each month until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars. If we change a price, we will tell you by email before it applies to you.
  • Upgrading. If you move from Starter to Pro, the change starts right away and you pay the prorated difference.
  • Downgrading. If you move from Pro to Starter, it takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. You choose which brand keeps collecting, and the others’ walls stay live but stop collecting until you upgrade again.
  • Cancelling. You can cancel any time from Billing. It takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and you keep your plan until then. We don’t refund part-months. If you think we charged you by mistake, email support@socialpoof.io and we will put it right.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails and Stripe ends the subscription, your account goes back to having no paid plan, as when a trial ends.

What you’re responsible for

SocialPoof is a tool. What you collect and publish with it is up to you, so please be straight with the people who write to you.

  • Only publish testimonials with consent. Collect them through your SocialPoof form, where the person agrees before sending, or import ones you have permission to use and record how you got that permission.
  • No fake reviews. Don’t write, buy or invent testimonials, don’t use ones from people who haven’t used your product, and don’t misstate who wrote something or what they experienced. The US Federal Trade Commission’s rule on consumer reviews and testimonials (16 CFR Part 465) bans fake and AI-generated reviews, and other countries have similar rules. You are responsible for following the rules where you do business.
  • Don’t change what people said. Fixing a typo is fine. Changing meaning isn’t. An excerpt must use the person’s own words.
  • Don’t spam. Only ask people who have agreed to hear from you or who reasonably expect it, honour “Don’t ask me again” requests, and don’t send asks in bulk to purchased lists. We cap how often one person can be asked, and we may pause sending if complaints or bounces get high.
  • Honour removal requests. If someone asks you to take their testimonial down, do it.
  • Follow the law. That includes privacy, advertising and email laws that apply to you. Nothing here is legal advice.

Acceptable use

Please don’t use SocialPoof to:

  • break the law or someone’s rights, or publish content that is hateful, threatening, harassing or deceptive;
  • upload malware, or probe, overload or try to get around the security or limits of the service;
  • scrape other people’s data, or collect personal information in ways the people involved wouldn’t expect;
  • resell or white-label the service without an Agency agreement with us.

We can remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules. We will tell you why when we can.

Your content

You own your testimonials, brands and other content you put into SocialPoof. The authors of testimonials keep whatever rights they have in their own words.

You give us a licence to host, store, copy, process and display that content, and to deliver it through your walls, collect pages, share images and embeds, for as long as it is in your account and only to run the service for you. We use our providers to do this, as described in the privacy policy. We don’t use your content for advertising and we don’t sell it.

SocialPoof itself, including its software, design and brand, belongs to us. We give you a limited right to use it while your account is active.

Using an AI agent or the API

You can connect an agent through MCP or call our API with your API key. Whatever the agent does with your key counts as done by you: the asks it sends, the testimonials it approves, the walls it publishes. Check its work. Agent and API use is subject to the same plan limits, rate limits and rules as using the app, and you must not try to get around them. Don’t share a key between unrelated businesses, and rotate it if you think it leaked.

Availability, with no warranty

We work to keep SocialPoof running, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we give no warranties, express or implied, including about fitness for a particular purpose. Services we rely on, like hosting, payments, email and video, can have problems outside our control. Keep your own copy of anything important. You can export your testimonials from Settings.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, SocialPoof is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost sales or lost data, and our total liability for anything arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $100 if you haven’t paid us anything). Some places don’t allow these limits, so they apply only as far as the law permits. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

Ending things

You can stop any time: cancel your plan in Billing, or delete your account in Settings. Deleting an account removes your content, as the privacy policy explains. Please export what you want first.

We can suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or is abusing the service, with notice where we can give it. The parts of these terms that by their nature should continue, such as the limits on liability and the governing law, do so after an account ends.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters, we will email account owners before it applies. If you keep using SocialPoof after a change takes effect, you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of New Zealand, unless the law where you live gives you rights that can’t be waived.
